Who are we
Kommunikasie started as a collective of trainers using NVC. At the moment the main trainer is Hugo A. Roele. For various projects he works together with colleagues from all over Europe and the USA. The Tools on this website are his children. The increasing quality of these tools is however only possible through the feedback and translation of many others. The aim is to add new trainers and co-developers in the near future.

Hugo A. Roele has worked for many years as a trainer, management consultant, and coach in a number of European countries. He began studying and teaching Nonviolent Communication in 2001. Since 2010 he has dedicated much of his time to developing methods and tools that make it easier to learn NVC better. The Book of Needs, The Deck of Needs, and The Flower of Needs are based on his broad experience in both professional and private life. He is the proud father of three sons and lives in Enschede, The Netherlands. More about his own work as professional listener and about his life can be found on www.hugoaroele.nl. | |

The first version of the Deck of Needs has been developed by Hugo A. Roele in cooperation with several trainers, coaches and other 'professional' listeners. Sometimes their contribution was a small remark with big consequences. Sometimes the discussion about how to translate a word into German or Polish, meant that the other languages had to be changed too. Amongst the partners for the first Deck of Needs were Bart Landstra (NL), Olivia Streater Lavizzari (UK/CH), Meike Hübel (D), Elizabeth Domanski (USA), Arkadiusz Kalinowski (PL), Dominika Jasinska (PL) and many others. In 2019 Kommunikasie finished an important update of the Deck of Needs. The changes in this update were the result of several years of intense and deep discussions. Each card was explored and discussed by Hugo A. Roele with at least 2 other people. Sometimes it took several hours for one card. The most important people who were willing to spend their time and knowledge were Fran Hill (UK), Laurens van den Nieuwenhuizen (NL), Joanna (PL), Karl Gössling (D), Rebecca Pitkin (UK), Ruth Hendrickx (B/NL) and Ralf Koellner (D). Their personal and professional experience, challenging questions and creativity have helped to create a seriously improved version of the Deck of Needs. |

Matthew Rich-Tolsma is an internationally recognised expert in the fields of transformative learning and leadership development. He is an experienced facilitator, coach, and program developer and works together with a range of organisations around the globe, both virtually and in-person. He is a certified trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication and a member of the team at Lectica, Inc. The Strategy Cards are based on an old idea of Hugo A. Roele that was already included in the Book of Needs. The current tool is based on long discussions with Laurens van den Nieuwenhuizen (NL) and further updated based on feedback during training courses. |

Depending on the type of question our team is extended with other (international) NVC trainers.
