The moment he said it, I felt them too. An Indian, a Persian, a Mongol horseman, a Zulu hunter, a
medieval knight. I could sense about 20 at that time. And I could even see, that they’d been with
me for many years. One simple sentence opened a curtain. And behind that curtain was a world I’d been
part of all my life.
That was 2006. Since that time the numbers have grown.
In the meantime.
“Do you know, that we are surrounded by hundreds of ancient warriors?”
In 2009 I was writing a story about my son Daniel, who at that time was in the hospital. In a previous story I
found, that he was the ‘general’. In this story I was showed him the ancient warriors. He could see them the
moment I ‘opened the curtain’. As always he had the combination of surprise and curiosity.
“Are these yours?”, he asked.
“I don’t know. I don’t think so.”
“Why are there so many? Isn’t one enough?”
I smiled. I’d been asking myself the same question. “Come, I want to show you something.”
We came to a very special garden. In this garden were trees with enormous fruit. The fruit was a bit transparent.
Inside it you could see humanlike figures.
“What is it?”, my son asked.
“These are the warriors to be. They need training. Would you be their trainer?”
He accepted.
Each warrior is based on a picture I once made to represent ‘protection’. The warriors have no race. They are universal. They have no age either. I think of them as male, since they have several ‘male qualities’: protection, courage, making decisions, action. Some women have these qualities too. Each ancient warrior holds a shield and a weapon. The shield enlarges the ability to protect. The weapon enlarges the ability to chose or take action.
